Thank Blog It’s Friday! [4]

posted 10.30.2009 under personal

This week has been unusual for me, because instead of working all the time, I’ve been sick in bed half the time. So with that being said, this one might be a brief one!

Things I’m thankful for!!!

Being Self-Employed: As of 8pm this evening I will be fully self-employed! Super scary, but also extremely exciting. Now if only I knew more about running my own business, har har :P

iCal: Where have I been for the last few years?! It wasn’t until this month that I discovered one of the greatest things MACs have to offer. This handy little calendar system called iCal. Makes my scheduling 100 times easier. Yay.

Halloween: I love Halloween sooo much!!! My favourite part is definitely all the little trick-or-treaters.. oh and of course the candy. I think Halloween is probably the worst time to be on a diet because there’s always left over candy. (Not that I’m complaining ;) )

Happy Halloween!!!

Tanya & Kris [engaged]

posted 10.29.2009 under Engagements

I met Tanya almost a year ago, when her and I worked together for 2 weeks. Yep, 2 weeks. Surprisingly enough we’ve stayed friends, she’s too sweet not to. So when she asked me to shoot her wedding I was honoured! Her and Kris are getting married at the Calgary Zoo this July, so we decided to do engagement photos before it snowed even more. It was definitely cold out, but we still managed to have lots of fun!

Thank Blog It’s Friday! [3]

So I’m currently on day 8 of a 19 day straight work schedule. I thought I had a day off in there, but I’m shooting 2 sessions that day so it’s not really a day off at all. Haha. I can’t wait for Christmas to be over and it’s still October. So with that being said, if I don’t get back to you right away I apologize, I wish there were more hours in the day.

So enough of my whining :P It’s Friday! Here’s what I’m thankful for this week:

All To Myself by Marianas Trench: You know when you hear a song, and you can’t help but smile and want to sing along? This is one of those songs for me. Doesn’t matter how stressed out I am, it makes me instantly happy.

Poutine: Poutine is without a doubt my favourite food, if I could eat it everyday without getting fat I would. Mmmm..

Happy People: I truly think moods are contagious. You know when you’re around a grumpy person, and suddenly you’re grumpy too? Same goes for happy people, you can’t help but smile. I always get stoked when I’m around happy people, especially people who laugh alot.

Nicole aka Cole aka R.H: My bestfriend who lives in Victoria is in town for a few days! I hadn’t seen her since christmas, so yesterday we went to Nellies for breakfast. I’ve known her for about 16 years and she’s hands down one of the sweetest people I know.

Sometime this week I’ll be posting about an engagement session I shot Wednesday!

Thank Blog It’s Friday! [2]

posted 10.16.2009 under personal

So another week has gone by, and a busy one at that. I recieved a phone call from the studio I work at, asking me to come on full time. Which means that I had to give the toystore I work part time at, my 2 weeks notice today. Which is unfortunate since it’s obviously a fun job, and my co-workers rule. The good/scary news, is that in 2 weeks time I will be fully self-employed. Yep, I’m all grown up haha. Hopefully it gives me more time for my own business, instead of this whole juggling 3 gigs deal I’ve currently got going on. (It’s exhausting!). So here it is, my list of thing I’m thankful for this fine Friday!

Nibs: I have an unhealthy obsession with Nibs. The bizarre part about it, is that I’m not a fan of the full sized Twizzlers. Yet when they’re cut up to make ‘Nibs’ I freaking love them.

Romantic comedies (aka ‘Chick Flicks’): The Proposal came out onto video Tuesday, so naturally being the movie buff I am, I rented it. I also saw it in theatres… twice. Did I mention  love chick flicks?

Facebook Fan Pages: I realize this one may look a little random, but I made myself a fan page a couple of days ago. Lame right?! Makes me sound super vain but I assure you it’s purpose is mainly to update my friends/family, my friends family/friends etc etc, with my blog and other photo related stuff. Anyways, enough of me trying to make myself sound less lame. I’m extremely happy with the results, almost 250 people have already joined! So thanks to everyone who has, and if you haven’t already feel free! My Facebook Group

Snail Mail: I love getting mail. I’m not talking about bills (I get enough of those as it is haha). I’m talking about real handwritten letters mail. Ooo and Christmas cards, invitations.. postcards, all that fun stuff. I’m a huge nerd!

Things I’m not so grateful for this week:

My blackberry: My blackberry and I have a love/hate relationship going on.. and unfortunately it’s usually the latter. When contacting me, please use e-mail. E-mail is the one constant thing for me that works. My blackberry erases my text/bbm all the time. So I’ll receive a text, and when I go to read it 5 minutes later it’ll be gone. With that being said, if I don’t reply to something, chances are I never recieved it in the first place!

I hope everyone has a good weekend, I’m going to edit & watch ‘2 weeks notice’ tonight since it seems appropriate.

Miss Jennifer

posted 10.12.2009 under portraits

I hope everyone has had a turkey (or turkey substitute) filled Thanksgiving! As I’ve promised, here is my blog entry for the weekend.

It’s cold out, so I’ve decided to blog about something that’s long overdue. This summer I was fortunate enough to hang out with Jennifer during the short time she was in town. We went to high school together, and she is still as beautiful as ever. So I did her hair, and we headed down to the MAC downtown and she had her make-up done by Lucy. We had tons of fun goofing around and playing with balloons!

She makes me look like a vampire with her golden skin, haha. She’s currently enjoying beautiful Europe, while I on the other hand am in Calgary where winter has had an early start. I did however enjoy a delicious turkey dinner at James’ Dad’s house this evening, and we’re now watching movies.. so life is pretty good! I definitely have lots to be thankful for this thanksgiving.
